Countertop Materials

Granite is natural stone, so the pattern can change across a slab. Quartz is an engineered surface made with quartz minerals and resin. It offers a more controlled appearance and does not need sealing. The right choice depends on the look you prefer and the care routine that suits your household.

Explore granite countertops or quartz countertops to compare your options.

Granite may need sealing to help resist stains. The need depends on the particular stone and its existing treatment. Quartz does not require sealing. Ask us about the slab you choose so you have care guidance for that surface rather than a schedule that may not fit it.

Quartz is a good option when easy maintenance is a priority. Granite is also well suited to everyday kitchen use if you prefer natural variation and are comfortable with its sealing needs. Neither surface is damage-proof. Use a cutting board for food preparation and a trivet beneath hot cookware.

Yes. We offer countertops for bathroom projects as well as kitchens. Granite and quartz can both work well on a vanity. Consider how the surface looks beside your cabinetry and how much daily upkeep you want. Your sink choice also matters because it affects the countertop opening.

Cost & Estimates

The amount of countertop space and your material selection help determine the price. Cutouts for a sink or cooktop also affect the work involved. Start with an estimate for your room rather than relying on a square-foot price alone. That gives you a clearer basis for comparing options.

Yes. We offer a free, no-obligation in-home estimate. Book your free consultation to get started.

Half of the payment is collected at the template appointment. The final payment is due after installation. Review your project’s payment details with us before moving forward.

Yes. After your initial estimate, we direct you to slab yards to view materials in person. If you select a different material, we update the bid to reflect that choice.

Our Process

We move into final selections and templating, followed by fabrication. Before installation, we call or text to arrange a suitable time. Visit our process page for the full sequence.

Start exploring materials after your estimate. At the template appointment, we finalize the material and discuss your sink and edge preferences. Have your preferred sink model ready to review before fabrication.

We use a templating laser to measure your cabinetry and determine overhangs. Those measurements guide fabrication for your space.

The usual timeframe from templating to installation is three to four weeks, according to our process. This includes fabrication and scheduling, not just time in the shop. Confirm the current project timeline with our team.

Please prepare these items before we arrive:

  • Clear everything off the countertops.
  • Arrange for the plumbing to be disconnected.
  • Keep the path to the work area clear.
  • Secure pets away from the installation area.

Installation

Installation time depends on the size and complexity of your project. Ask our team for an expected arrival window and how long the work may take. Sink plumbing reconnection may need to be scheduled separately.

Yes. Plumbing must be disconnected before installation. Confirm who will handle disconnection and reconnection before installation day. If you are arranging a plumber, check the timing with our team before booking the return visit.

Yes. We offer stainless steel undermount sinks to pair with your countertop. An undermount sink sits beneath the countertop opening, leaving the stone edge visible. Review the model with us before fabrication so the opening fits the sink. Browse our sink selection to start comparing options.

Some layouts need seams because of slab dimensions or the shape of the room. A large island or an angled layout may require a different approach from a straight vanity top. Ask us to review likely seam locations before fabrication so you know what to expect.

Warranty & Care

Quality Granite Utah offers a one-year limited warranty on countertop fabrication and installation. Material manufacturers may provide separate coverage. Ask our team for the applicable terms and exclusions, and keep your paperwork for reference.

Use a soft cloth with mild soap and water for everyday cleaning. Rinse away soap residue and dry the surface. Wipe spills promptly. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or sealer. Follow the care recommendations for your particular stone.

No. Quartz is nonporous and does not need routine sealing. That does not make it maintenance-free: clean spills promptly and follow the surface manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Use heat protection rather than setting hot pans directly on the countertop.

Contact our team before trying a repair product. Tell us where the issue is and when you noticed it. A clear photo can help us understand the concern, but repair options and warranty coverage depend on the specific situation.
