Project Backstory
In this basement kitchen renovation, the homeowners wanted to transform an underused space into a functional extension of their home for entertaining, cooking, and family gatherings. The design centered on 3cm Santorini quartzite, chosen for its durability and luminous blend of whites and grays that complement the kitchen’s lighting. Fabricators faced the challenge of working in a lower-level space with limited light, which made the reflective qualities of the stone even more valuable. Each slab was carefully templated and book-matched to enhance the flow of veining from countertop to backsplash, creating a seamless, continuous look.
The full-height quartzite backsplash became the defining feature of the space. Instead of using tile or accent walls, the smooth stone surface offered both visual impact and lasting practicality, being easy to clean, heat resistant, and naturally unique. The fabrication team precision-cut the 3cm quartzite to align with outlets and cabinetry reveals, ensuring a clean transition from counter to wall. The result is a basement kitchen that feels elevated and polished, showcasing the strength and beauty of Santorini quartzite while standing up to daily use.
